Laïla Diallo

As part of Light Moves Festival 2021 Laïla Diallo and Marisa Zanotti and hosted a discussion about cosmic work in domestic spaces that explores movements between home, screen and theatre spaces called Dancing, Filmmaking & The Cosmic-domestic.

In 2021 dance maker Laïla Diallo created a short dance film made to the scale of her kitchen. Entitled 1:1 the film tips from the everyday into something else, carrying traces of dances danced before, between stove and table, and inviting new ones. Produced by MAYK, 1:1 was commissioned by The British Council #WomenPowerinCulture for WOW Istanbul. In March 2020 filmmaker Marisa Zanotti was working with 25 older dancers and they created Dancing with the Birds (digital tapestries #1). As part of a re-orientation exercise, she invited the dancers to join her on a trip and imagine moving between the spaces of the body, the experience of their homes and the immensity of outer space.
