We are thrilled to announce ÉIST by Stephanie Keane has won the MOV’IN Cannes Grand Prix at Festival de Danse Cannes 2023! Having screened in November this year at Light Moves Festival in Limerick, ÉIST was one of 18 international films selected as part of the competition. Congratulations Stephanie and team, very well deserved!
The MOV’IN Cannes jury said about the film ‘We were touched by the originality of the proposal both cinematic, choreographic and musical film that explores in a very personal and original way the question of identity through percussive dance, which reinterprets a tradition.’
Light Moves Festival was honoured to be asked to put forward a film nomination for MOV’IN Cannes by the competition’s co-artistic director Eric Oberdorff. Light Moves co-curator Jessie Keenan travelled to Cannes for the festival along with Stephanie where they met Eric and the team.
MOV’IN Cannes is a new initiative by the long-established Cannes Dance Festival. It is a competition of short dance films under the artistic direction of Didier Deschamps and Eric Oberdorf, and supported by the Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte Region -Azure.
