Paddy Mulcahy is a composer/producer from Limerick City, Ireland; best known for his use of piano and synthesizers. Although classically trained in piano from the age of 5, Paddy has sought out his own styles through various experiments with electronic music over the course of the past decade.
Paddy’s most recent work, Angel’s Share, was released in August 2022 on the XXIM Records imprint at Sony Music. This 12-track album showcases the Irish composer’s most advanced compositional & recording techniques to date; featuring violin and drums.
Ahead of this saw releases such as Tidal Oscillations (XXIM Records, 2021) and the critically acclaimed How To Disappear (Phases Records, 2019). Tidal Oscillations puts the 29-year old producer’s undulating synthesizer melodies on display with the latter presenting a more experimental approach to electronic music composition,
featuring solo piano and ambient productions intended to explore the themes of
escapism and depression.
In between these projects, Mulcahy continued to provide music for international commercial adverts for companies like Deliveroo, MADE & Belstaff.
The composer’s music has featured at Cannes Film Festival, London Surf Film Festival, Newport Beach Festival, London Fashion Week & dozens of other events and venues.
Paddy signed a recording contract with London-based Phases Records, who went on to release the 5 track ambient electronic EP “From Water” in May 2018 followed by the much-anticipated album ’How To Disappear’, supported by RTE & BBC Radio, accompanied by sold-out concerts in Limerick, Berlin & Dublin.
Now recognized for his unique approach to composing with synthesizers, Paddy continues to compose, most notably with the Juno 60 and modular synthesizers. 2023 will see him work on an electro-acoustic ambient project, DIALECTS, comprising of field recordings from around his native Limerick City, accompanied by
ambient compositions. This will be presented at the end of the year at a live event.
