Christine Ellison is an Irish artist and educator based in Glasgow. Her work is performance based, encompassing movement, video, sound, textiles, collage, animation and text. She is driven by an interest in language and the body in a post-digital environment where digital signs are both pervasive and unseen. Ellison regularly collaborates with musicians, dancers, choreographers and designers in the production of live performances and film works. She engages participants from academic and non-academic communities in workshops and performance-led research, most recently at Fondazione Bonotto (IT), Documenta 15 (DE), Reading Fringe (UK). She has exhibited and performed across the UK, Ireland and internationally since 2006, often as Polly Fibre or Agency of Noise. Her work has received support from The Arts Council of England, University of Reading, University of the Arts Zurich and The Elephant Trust. Ellison is senior lecturer in Fine Art at Edinburgh College of Art.
Erato Tzavara is an Athens/London based video artist and independent researcher who specializes in moving image techniques for live performance, video design and embodiment in relation to digital media. Through international-interdisciplinary collaborations with a focus on live performance, she has presented work in theatres, art spaces, music venues and international festivals across Europe, US, Canada and Asia. In her personal work, she draws on participatory methods, photography, video essays and somatics to capture the collective experience in relation to human and non-human Environments. As an educator, Tzavara has a 20 year experience of devising and facilitating multimedia education workshops and AV performances for different ages, abilities and social backgrounds. Since 2013, she has been co-directing innovative educational programs and live performances for kids and young people with Athens based AV education group GNOUS! Nicholas Ward is a lecturer in Physical Computing and Performance Technology in the Computer Science Department at the University of Limerick. His research explores physicality and effort in the context of interaction design and digital music performance and situates Laban Movement Analysis as the basis for a design methodology for interactive interfaces. He is interested in movement quality, systems for movement description, and their utility within a design context. Ward has been an invited participant at international conferences including Telepresence to Teletrust, Bournemouth University (UK) and Resonate Festival, Serbia. He has developed electronics and sound design work for art and architectural installations including collaborations with Cleary + Connolly, O’Donnell + Tuomey Architects, Craft Council, Kilkenny. Formerly a visiting researcher at STEIM, Amsterdam, NL and Goldsmiths University London, Ward’s research has been supported by NAIRTL, University of Belfast, University of Limerick, The Arts Council of Ireland and The Arts Council of Northern Ireland.
